Yasei Sentai Keitouranger

This is an idea I've been obsessed with making for a couple weeks.  Yasei Sentai Keitouranger (野生戦隊系統レンジャー) translates to "Wild Squadron Lineage-Ranger".  The idea behind the team is that their powers are descended from the first rangers, hence "lineage". 

Now yes, they greatly resemble Zyuranger/MMPR.  The idea is lineage, so what better team to resemble then the first Power Ranger team I remember?  It makes perfect sense to do that for me, given the theme.  These are NOT meant to be a Zyuranger/MMPR revamp or any such thing, just meant to resemble them.  However, I like making the core appear to be actually a team and play into their number, so pentagons are featured for the core rather than diamonds.

I hope to debut a couple other pics relating to this idea in the near future to better flush out their predecessors and maybe a little of the current ranger's backgrounds.  In my head, the original rangers were basically just spandex, and each subsequent generation adds a bit of protection/armor until we get to this current generation.  Also, given the lineage theme, I've started playing around with a "100 Years After" type thing with these ranger's descendants in futursitic-y looking suits.  We'll see.  I'm excited about it.

Each ranger is associated with an elemental motif as well as their animals.  The animals are all extant animals, not extinct like Zyuranger/MMPR.  Save for Green, because he's the extra and has the same mythical animal.  The animals were picked to kinda update with extant animals, but allude to the originals a bit.  Blue caused some problems there, because I wanted the elemental motif for water, so I figured a shark's fin would be close enough to a horn, haha. 

Red's elemental motif is Fire.  His animal is the crocodile.  The spirit of Fire has always stayed in Red's family, passing down from parent to child, ever since the first Fire Red Ranger.  As such, every Fire Red Ranger has the crocodile spirit.  All Fire Red Rangers here: taiko554.deviantart.com/art/Ya…
Black's elemental motif is Earth.  His animal is the elephant.  The spirit of Earth has been scattered among many generations since the first ranger.  As such, each Earth Ranger has a different color and animal.  All Earth Rangers here: taiko554.deviantart.com/art/Ya…

Green's elemental motif is lightning.  His mythical animal is the dragon.  The spirit of Lightning has been lost for generations ever since the first ranger.  Legend said the first Fire Red and Lightning Green were as close as brothers, but the power faded to myth in subsequent generations.  This Lightning Green Ranger is only the second of his kind, ever.  Both Lightning Green Rangers here: taiko554.deviantart.com/art/Ya…

So that kinda lays the general groundwork for what I would want to do in the future with the idea.  Basically, there's always been a Fire Red Ranger with a crocodile motif in each generation while every other core ranger has changed color and motif.  The Lightning Green Ranger is a wildcard when he first appears and is only the second of his kind as it was believed there were only five powers.

Like I said, the core five intentionally play upon the pentagon a good bit.  Green plays upon hexagons since he's the sixth.  When it's not hexagons, his angles are sharper and some triangles work for the sharp angles as well.  His shield is made of six lightning bolts meeting in the center, and I actually love the way the shield turned out.  Green also gets a lot of gold lines accenting his suit further separating him from the core five.  Since they're meant to resemble Zyuranger/MMPR, their visors' general shape are meant to look very similar, most easy to see with Red, Black, and Green. 

I hope to expand on the idea in the near future.  We'll see just how motivated I am to do so, but I am excited about the idea.  Right now, I've got plans for five previous generations of the rangers, to include the first.  I think it'd be cool to see each generation and how the suits evolve into what's above for the current team.
