Yasei Sentai Keitouranger, Lightning Rangers

This here is the current team's "sixth ranger" along with his sole preceding Lightning Green Ranger.  Both are actually brothers of their respective team's Fire Red Rangers.  I mean, c'mon, that may have been a bit obvious from previous posts about the current Fire Red/Aidan, and the whole idea is about family.  So although it gets used in Sentai/Toku quite a bit, it's getting used here because it works well with the theme.

The first Lightning Green Ranger fought with the first team of rangers, and during the team's final battle he was seemingly killed (again; see below) alongside his comrades.  However, the evil force was able to trap his abilities/essence/spirit/etc. in an unstable state for a couple centuries.  The evil attempted to bring out their brainwashed ranger multiple times through subsequent generations with little to no success.  In the current rangers' (Aidan and co.) generation, the evil forces finally perfect their brainwashed control of the first Lightning Green Ranger and make him fight against these rangers.  The first Lightning Green Ranger is at this point a very weak and nearly empty shell of the man he once was after all the years under the evil's control.  After a particularly brutal battle in which evil's victory seems assured, aided by the Lightning Green Ranger, he is able to break through the evil's control and with help form a familiar face, transfer his elemental powers to a new host body.

Sean Ryan is the current Lightning Green Ranger.  Sean is Aidan's older brother who disappeared before our story begins.  Aidan had always looked up to him and was dumbfounded and angry when his brother disappeared without a trace, leaving Aidan to assume the role as the Fire Red Ranger.  However, Sean did not abandon his family's fight against evil.  His and Aidan's grandfather (Stephen, who had been married to Maeve Ryan) had told Sean of various Ryan family documents investigating the disappearance and lack of resurgence of the first Lightning Green Ranger.  Heads of the Ryan family eventually deduced that the first Lightning Green Ranger had been captured and amassed a wealth of clues and investigations into his whereabouts.  This was the mission their grandfather set Sean upon without informing Aidan.  Sean was able to eliminate possible locations over a year long journey and found where the first Lightning Green Ranger was being held just as the evil forces first sent him against the current rangers.  At the end of the next battle, Sean was able to give the first Lightning Green Ranger a moment of clarity, peace, and freedom from evil's control and instructed him how the various Red Fire Rangers had passed down their abilities via their blood line (since Sean was originally to become the Red Fire Ranger and therefore knew all his family's methods and means, it's logical he would know this).  With this successful, Sean became only the second Lightning Green Ranger, joining his brother and other rangers in their fight.  At first the power was difficult to control as it rid itself of evil's control but Sean found himself able to wield it more and more proficiently in a short amount of time.  Sean is a cautious optimist who (somewhat rightfully, given his year + mission) thinks he can handle a lot of tasks by himself and takes time to act as a member of the team.  His animal is the dragon.  As he is a Ryan, Sean's traditional family title is "The Champion".

The first Lightning Green Ranger was Connor Ryan.  Connor was Brandon Ryan's significantly younger brother and always enviously and riskily measured himself against Brandon.  Connor was found to have stowed away on Brandon's mission and shortly before their mission was accomplished, Connor fell through a crevice (which led the others to believe he was dead) to a different chamber which housed the lightning element and protected the other five element's enchanted seal.  Connor then took the power and became incredibly overwhelmed by the surge and was left unable to move as the power coursed through him.  Months later, after his brother and friends had become rangers, Connor finally got the power under his control and joined them in their fight, finally understanding his element's role as the protector of the other five and necessary to reseal the evil.  However, the events above occurred, he became trapped for a century and a half or so, then became a brainwashed slave, and was forced to fight against his brother's descendant and other current rangers.  It's at this time Sean Ryan (a distant descendant, like great-great-great-grand nephew(?) of Connor's) is able to instruct Connor how to pass along elemental powers via family lines.  Connor finally dies at peace, wishing Sean good luck and telling him the element's role as the protector of the other five.  Connor's animal was also the dragon.  "The Rogue".


That's it for these two and the whole idea.  It's all done, yay.  I had originally mentioned the possibility of a future team, but that would mean the current rangers wouldn't have been successful in defeating the evil forces, and that'd just be lame.  So no future team, it's done with Aidan's generation.
